This is an important capacity strengthening strategy for CHOICE, whereby young people are linked to each other and encouraged to share their knowledge and skills in a formal or informal way. For example, young people can facilitate a workshop for other young people, or young people can become mentors to each other. Peer-to-peer learning is thought to be an effective strategy, as peers are far more likely to understand each other’s contexts and knowledge gaps, and have often faced similar barriers. Furthermore, it also simultaneously strengthens young people’s facilitation, training, mentorship and leadership skills so that advocates strengthen their own and each other’s capacities at the same time. Lastly, sharing knowledge, skills, and lessons learned between peers results in mutual learning and more effective working methods and strategies, thereby also empowering young people and contributing to a stronger youth movement.
